Northern Youth: Global Perspectives
Eight northern youth took part in a youth-led research project to understand how youth in Yukon, NWT, and Nunavut are engaging with global issues. This report explores how youth in the North see themselves in relation to global issues, the opportunities that exist to engage with the issues they are passionate about, and what programs, support, and initiatives youth want to see to help create solutions to these issues.

Northern Perspectives on the Sustainable Development Goals 
NCGC asked northern photographers to characterize each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals through imagery and narration. Using the SDGs as a framework and common language, the photographers profiled initiatives in their communities — from civil society, government, business, community organizations and youth — that show some of the ways that Northern Canadians are working together to achieve a more sustainable and just planet. Each photographer worked with their community to determine how best to represent these goals from their own unique perspective. The result is this powerful collection of images and narration directly from communities in Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

A Roadmap to Global Citizenship for Northern Canadians
There are many ways to volunteer at the international level. This guide provides information on international internships, youth fellowships, as well as short- and long-term international volunteering opportunities (often age 18+) with non-profit organizations. These opportunities are available to all northern Canadians who are looking for a meaningful international experience and the opportunity to contribute to global development. This guide also highlights northern Canadians and their contribution to sustainable global development. As a living document, the work of northern Canadians will be highlighted in future issues.

Canada 2030: ICN National Submission on Global Affairs Canada’s International Assistance Review
In response to Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau’s public review and consultation of Canada’s international assistance policy and funding framework, the ICN submitted an in-depth report highlighting the importance of The Addis Ababa Action Agenda on financing for development, Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Paris Agreement on climate change point to the need for urgent action by Canada and others to address global sustainable development challenges.

Small and Medium-sized Canadian Civil Society Organizations as Development Actors 
In 2016, the ICN commissioned a study on the current state of funding for Canadian development organizations, which highlighted the disproportionate cut in funding to small and medium-sized organizations. The study also provides empirical evidence of the key role that small and medium-sized organizations play in engaging the people in their communities and achieving international development objectives. 

The Civil Society Partnership Policy
The ICN has submitted comprehensive comments on Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada’s Draft Civil Society Partnership Policy. In this report, the ICN stresses that adherence to human rights- based principles, commitments, standards, and approaches be explicit preconditions for partnership, that the expertise brought by CSOs in particular should be the focus of the policy, and that DFATD should ensure the conformity of the meaning of the French and English versions of the text of the policy.
